Welcome to ArchivesSpace

Welcome to the finding aid database for the Opelika Public Library Special Collections and Archives. Here you can search or browse guides (finding aids) to the collections that document the history and life of Opelika and Lee County. Materials in these collections include photographs, letters, oral histories, business records, manuscripts, local publications, scrapbooks, and more. Books and other published materials can be found in the library catalog.

How do I use this site?

To search all collections, type a keyword into the search bar. The dropdown boxes and date fields let you customize your search further. Once you have results, you can narrow them by material type, subject, or name using the filters that appear alongside your results list. You can also click any of the tabs at the top of the page to browse our holdings by collection, subject, or name.

What is a finding aid?

A finding aid is a detailed guide to a single collection. It describes the collection's contents and provides information about how the materials were created, the historical context around them, and any restrictions on access or use. Finding aids help you decide whether a collection is worth a closer look before you visit.
